There’s something incredibly grounding about slipping off your shoes, walking barefoot across warm sand, and stepping into the clear Caribbean water hand in hand with the person you just married. For Ashley and Lance, their private beach and in-the-water couple’s session was the perfect way to close out their Punta Sur elopement on Isla Mujeres.
After their heartfelt ceremony on the scenic outlook balcony at Punta Sur, we made our way to a quiet, tucked-away beach on the island. It was a hot day in May and the idea of jumping into the ocean was more than just romantic; it was refreshing. The breeze off the water helped, but it was the cool, turquoise sea that truly invited Ashley and Lance to relax, unwind, and celebrate in their own, uniquely playful way.
I started the post-ceremony session with the couple walking on the shore and as the session continued, they slowly made their way into the water.
Ashley’s dress floated gracefully around her as she walked along the shore, the fabric catching the light as she and Lance strolled, laughed, and soaked up the joy of the moment. Lance, still visibly glowing from the ceremony, couldn't take his eyes off her. It’s always a privilege to witness a couple so fully present—just living in the moment, with nothing to prove and nowhere else to be.
Once they waded into the water, any remaining formality slipped away. Their session became more than just a photo opportunity—it was a celebration. They splashed, embraced, and let the ocean carry them into a playful rhythm. After a warm, emotional afternoon, the cool water felt like a reward.
