Planning your celebration from afar can be daunting even when it’s an intimate ceremony. We’ve put together this Q&A to help ease your mind and answer questions you may have.

What is the best time of year to get married on the island?

January through mid-April is really ideal for weddings. Evenings tend to cool off a bit while days are warm and wonderful, but not too humid or hot.

Starting mid-April through June, the weather starts changing and begins to get hotter; however, these are still wonderful months for a wedding.

July through mid-October is the high season for rain, and rain can downpour for hours. Additionally, this is the hurricane season. The temps are hot, hot, hot, it is very, very humid and often there is no breeze to cool you down. Not ideal for a wedding.

Mid-October through December are wonderful months for a destination wedding. Temps are perfect and the ocean is still warm for swimming.

How soon should we book with you?

To secure your ideal date with us, we recommend contacting us as soon as possible in your planning process. We often book dates six months to a year out, but we have also worked with couples that contacted us only a few months (or days) out.

To reserve our services, we need a signed contract and retainer.

We don’t speak Spanish. Will this be a problem?

Not at all! English is Susan’s first language and Sabina speak English and German.

What time should our ceremony start?

We recommend starting your ceremony one hour prior to sunset to take advantage of the best light of the day. This way, you will also have time to have photos during sunset on the beach.

What is a spiritual wedding and how does it differ from a legal wedding?

The ceremonies that we offer are spiritual and symbolic in nature which means they reflect and express the love you have for each other. No legal papers will be signed in the ceremony. To legalize your marriage, you will need to check with your home state.

Photography is very important to us and we want to document more than just the ceremony. Do you take photographs before and after the ceremony also?

We are thrilled you believe photography is important. After all, is the tangible expression of your celebration! We offer different collections depending on what you would like covered from getting ready, a special ‘first look’ and photos around the island including at the cliffs of Punta Sur.

If we choose a beach location for our ceremony, will there be other people on the beach?

We work with a few intimate, boutique hotels and private homes that allow us to use their beach for our ceremonies. They are located away from the touristy and crowded Playa Norte (north beach).

We have never been to Isla Mujeres so we don’t know where to begin!

As we live on the island and have coordinated and photographed hundreds of weddings over a decade, we can walk you through all the details…don’t worry!

Do you have recommendations for a good place for dinner after our ceremony?

Absolutely, we would be happy to provide you with recommendations!

We would like to have a small reception after the ceremony. Can you coordinate this?

Our focus is solely on the ceremony and photos and as such, we do not offer reception services; however, we would be happy to recommend a wedding coordinator that can help you plan your reception.

We would like to have our ceremony in a private house on the island. Is this possible?

Absolutely! Lets chat about the details and we’ll work with you to plan your celebration.

We are staying in Cancun, but considering having our elopement on Isla Mujeres. Is it difficult to get to the island?

Isla Mujeres is a short 20-minute ferry ride from Cancun so having your elopement ceremony on the island if you are staying on the mainland is super easy!

What happens if it rains?

We watch the hour-by-hour reports constantly, and if we happen to see that rain could be a problem with your scheduled time, we will offer to adjust the timing of the wedding to ‘dance’ around the rain. This is normally a great fix for a common shower.

If the weather is really bad and you prefer to move your celebration to another day, we will make every reasonable effort to accommodate the new date; however, we cannot guarantee our availability during the dates you are on the island. Being flexible with your travel dates may be needed to find dates that work.

If you are adventurous and want to have your ceremony in the rain, we are up for that also!

Please note that our ceremony sites do not offer covered areas nor are there backup options.

What happens if we have to cancel?

The money paid to retain our services means that we are completely committed to you for your dates. We’ve blocked out your dates and made your event our highest priority. You have our guarantee that nothing will take precedence over your special day!

By dedicating this date/s to you, we have closed your date/s to other potential clients, essentially declining other business. Thus, should your event be cancelled for any reason, the money paid to retain our services is non-refundable. (The non-refundable retainer also covers administrative services and planning time occurring in advance of the event.)

If you paid in full at the time of booking, we are happy to refund you, minus the appropriate retainers, as set forth in  the contract.
